Lucy & Ryan

Private Residence / Norwich

As a Norfolk based wedding photographer, I frequently capture garden wedding photography, which his no surprise since Norfolk boasts some simply stunning gardens. And the sun shone all day for Lucy and Ryan’s summer garden wedding in Norfolk.

A stunning Summer Wedding in Norwich

I first met this pair when I captured their pre wedding photoshoot at the beautiful Grade II listed Plantation Gardens in Norwich. So, seeing them again felt like catching up with friends.

Their summer wedding in Norfolk was held at Lucy’s family home, so on the day, I headed straight there and found Lucy in the capable hands of her make-up artist. The house was a buzz of excitement.

Lucy looked stunning in a lace detail dress with thin straps and a beautifully layered A-line skirt that fanned out giving Lucy a fairytale silhouette. Lucy’s hair was elegantly styled and she carried a pretty bouquet of pink flowers with white foliage. Lucy was one of the happiest brides I have ever photographed and beamed all day long. Us Norfolk wedding photographers do love a smiley bride!

Lucy’s bridesmaids and flower girl all looked elegant in pink. Before heading off to the church, I captured a special first reveal to the bridal party and Lucy’s father.

The wedding ceremony was held at a local church and I got there in time to get some images of Ryan and his best man waiting at the front of the church. They both looked very smart in traditional tails suits with pink ties.

Lucy and her father travelled to the church in style in a gorgeous vintage car.

The light interiors of the church combined with the stained-glass windows created a lovely natural light for photographing the ceremony. And afterwards everybody congratulated the happy couple outside the church. And I took my chance to get a couple of romantic portrait images in the graveyard under the shade of a beautiful tree. Here, take a look!

Everybody then headed to Lucy’s family house for the reception, with Lucy and Ryan travelling there in style in another vintage car. On arrival there was a fun confetti moment and I took the chance to get some great images of the wedding party as well as some candid images of guest happily mingling and enjoying the sunshine.

Lucy’s family garden was incredibly well maintained giving me an endless supply of beautiful backdrops for wedding photos. And then image of Lucy and Ryan walking under flowered arches was amongst my favourites of the day. Here, take a look!

Now, you can’t have an outdoorsy wedding without nature throwing in the odd mishap and this came in the form of a bee that chose today of all days to sting Lucy’s father on the lip.  He bravely soldiered on and it made for an extra joke in his speech!

The wedding breakfast was hosted in a large luxury marquee and guests were seated first so that Lucy and Ryan could receive a rapturous welcome. The marque was dressed exquisitely and guests were treated to some very well received speeches and a delicious wedding breakfast.

Many then spilled back outside to enjoy the last of the early evening sunshine and I got some great images with the low sun created a soft hazy glow.

Evening celebrations started with the cutting of a delicious looking four tired naked wedding cake followed by a romantic first dance for Lucy and Ryan. Evening entertainment was in the form of a live Ceilidh Band who got everybody up on the dancefloor. I love ceilidh bands at weddings as they get everybody mixing and dancing together and create a real party atmosphere that carries on throughout the rest of the evening.

By now the sun had set, so I took Lucy and Ryan outside back to those floral arches that had been lit with lights and got some romantic images of the two of them. They were the perfect images to close the story of Lucy and Ryan’s amazing wedding day.

A wonderful family friendly wedding in the sunshine for this lovely pair. Congratulations to lucy and Ryan for getting married and thank you for allowing me to tell the story of it. I had the best time!
