A Beautiful music filled woodland wedding
Wellington Wood Wedding Photographer
The day started with morning preparations – Aislinn and the team consisted of her friends and sisters. Spirits were high and everyone was looking forward to what lay ahead. But amidst the chaos of morning prep, one thing stood out – Aislinn’s amazing flowers, lovingly crafted from paper and felt. Talk about a creative touch, I just love stuff like this!
With the morning hustle and bustle behind them, everyone was raring to go! The wedding party (Plus Merlin, the most amazing dog!) set off on a leisurely stroll through the woods to the ceremony room.
As guests began to arrive, the anticipation grew, and soon we all found ourselves gathered at “The Larch” – a charming rustic cabin with its unique octagonal shape adding to the Rustic charm of Wellington Woods. The ceremony was a joyous affair, with a reading from one of my favorite books, “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,”. You can’t beat a bit of geeky literature!
With vows exchanged and with the announcement that the couple were now married everyone cheered including Merlin the dog! And with that Aslinn and Sam lead the wedding party outside for the all-important confetti and group photos.
I always like to recommend the kids give out the confetti if possible, they love it, and it always makes for a nice photo or two.
The festivities continued as we made our way to the epic tepees nestled within Wellington Woods. And with everyone drinked up, lots of the guests either found a spot to relax and enjoy the day or groups together for games of Rounders, Cricket, and Giant Jenga!
Taking advantage of everyone being preoccupied for a moment, I seized the opportunity to whisk the couple away into the woods for some couples portraits. The woods at Wellington Woods are just amazing, it’s like a little maze and ideal for wedding photography. So many little nooks hidden away. Keeping it casual, they absolutely nailed it
With portraits in the bag, it was time to for speeches, and grub, and, of course, music!
Aislinn, Sam, and their musically talented family all grabbed instruments and started playing. Guests were encouraged to join in and it was genuinely an amazing moment. A real festival feel and vibe.
As dusk descended, the tempo rose, heralding the arrival of the Ceilidh – a Scottish traditional dance that is the most fun to photograph….assuming you can dodge all the arms and legs that typically come flying your way when you’re in amongst it! The band who put on the Ceilidh where called Blackbeard’s Tea Party which was one of the best bands I’ve seen at a wedding. They had every up on the dancefloor, young and old.
And just like that, my time at Wellington Woods came to a close. Aislinn, Sam, and the entire team had designed a wedding unlike any other, brimming with love, laughter, music and rustic boho charm that only a venue like this can offer. It was an absolute pleasure to capture the magic of their special day amidst the beauty of a stunning venue hidden away in the woods.
