Kirsty and Sam chose the perfect venue for their Norwich city centre wedding.
The Assembly House is a gorgeous Georgian house located in the heart of Norwich. Designed in 1754, it’s famous for its elegant design and opulent interiors. Today, it’s a multi- award-winning boutique hotel, restaurant and cookery school.
On the day, I headed to The Assembly House to catch up
On the day, I headed to The Assembly House to catch up with Kirsty who was getting ready in their beautiful and spacious bridal suite. Kirsty was in good spirits and in the capable hands of her make-up artist.
I then headed downstairs, to capture some images of the ceremony space all dressed and ready to go. Kirsty and Sam chose to have their wedding ceremony in The Music Room. The most regal room in the house, the Music Room has stunning crystal chandeliers, distinctive yellow panelled walls, a Steinway grand piano and a minstrels’ gallery. I also caught up with Sam who was with his best man. They both looked smart in grey tweed three-piece-suits with pink ties.
The bridal procession consisted of two adorable page boys, a sweet flower girl and Kirsty’s two bridesmaid who looked elegant in silver dresses. Kirsty followed on her father’s arm and looked stunning in a dress with exquisite lace detailing on the top and a straight skirt that elegantly trained out a little at the back. She teamed it with a small bouquet of pink and white flowers. The wedding ceremony was really special as it was clear that Kirsty and Sam were very much in love. They gave one another lots of knowing looks and smiles.

After the ceremony, guests enjoyed a drinks reception in The Assembly House’s impressive grand hall, and there was a fun confetti moment outside. As guests were happily catered for, I was able to steal Kirsty and Sam for a few minutes, to get some romantic portrait images of them in nearby Chapelfield Gardens. Here, take a look! We then returned to join guests who had already been seated for the afternoon tea. Kirsty and Sam were welcomed enthusiastically by their guests. The Assembly House is famous for its themed afternoon teas, so it was a great choice as a wedding meal.
After food, there were some very well received speeches. And as guests happily milled about enjoying exclusive use of The Assembly Rooms, I quickly whisked Kirsty and Sam out for a wander and a mini photoshoot around Norwich City Centre. We took in all of the best city centre sights such as the Royal Arcade, the cobbled market square and The Forum Library.
Evening celebrations took place in The Music Room that had been transformed into the perfect party place. Things kicked off with the cutting of the most delicious looking three- tiered naked wedding cake followed by a first dance for Kirsty and Sam. Not that they were alone on the dancefloor for long, their guests were really up for a party and it was delightful to see so many generations on the dancefloor together. With the sunset and the dancefloor full it was time for me to take my leave. Before heading home, I took one last image from outside The Assembly House.
It was beautifully lit from the outside with Kirsty, Sam and their loved ones all partying inside. It was the perfect image to close the story of their day.
