Lucy and Adam’s wedding at Chippenham Park is one I’ll never forget — and not just because of the weather. Yes, the rain gate-crashed the party, but honestly? It barely got a look-in. These two arrived on the day with so much warmth, so much energy, and such an infectiously brilliant group of family and friends that the clouds didn’t stand a chance.
Chippenham Park is a Grade I listed Georgian country estate in Cambridgeshire, set just south of Newmarket, and one of the most distinctive wedding venues in East Anglia. The estate features formal walled gardens, grand interiors flooded with natural light, and grounds that have hosted celebrations for centuries — making it an exceptional backdrop for wedding photography in all weathers
Morning Prep at Chippenham Park
There is genuinely no better way to start a wedding day than stepping into a bridal suite buzzing with laughter, the smell of fresh flowers, and a completely full-on atmosphere that you can feel before you’ve even said hello.
Lucy’s morning prep was exactly that. The bridesmaids were in full swing, Mum was doing what Mums do brilliantly, and Lucy’s adorable daughter was very much part of the whole thing — making it feel wonderfully warm and personal from the very start. The bridal suite itself was gorgeous: high ceilings, tall windows, and floods of soft natural light that made every single shot a joy to take.
This is one of my favourite parts of any wedding day. Not just because the images it produces are beautiful — though they are — but because it’s where you really get a feel for the couple and the people they love. Chippenham Park’s interiors gave us an incredible canvas to work with, and Lucy made it all look completely effortless.
Wedding Ceremony at Chippenham Park

Lucy and Adam’s ceremony had everything. Real and beautiful emotion from Adam the moment Lucy walked in. Laughter from Lucy, the kind that’s completely uncontrived and makes everyone in the room relax. And their daughter, fully, brilliantly involved — not as a quiet observer but as an active participant, which made the whole thing feel like the family celebration it was.
The standout moment? Adam fluffed his lines. And before you wince — that was one of my absolute favourite moments of the entire day. There is something so brilliantly human about a groom getting flustered at the vows. Nobody minded. Everybody loved it. It made the room erupt, and it made the moment completely, unforgettably theirs.
That’s what I’m always looking for as a wedding photographer: the real stuff. The laughter through tears. The moments that you couldn’t have scripted even if you’d tried. Chippenham Park ceremonies have a way of producing those moments in abundance

Look — nobody books a wedding hoping for rain. But after years of shooting weddings across East Anglia and Cambridgeshire, I can tell you with complete confidence that some of the best wedding photographs I’ve ever taken have been in the rain.
Lucy and Adam were brilliant. Umbrellas became props. Puddles became features. The covered areas and beautiful interior rooms at Chippenham Park gave us plenty of options, and when we did venture out onto the estate’s lovely paved terraces, the light was soft, moody, and absolutely gorgeous in a way that only overcast British skies can deliver.
Chippenham Park is genuinely one of the best venues for wet-weather photography — the grounds are extensive, the covered spaces are beautiful, and the whole estate has a quality of light in its interiors that makes indoor portraits look just as good as any golden-hour shot outdoors.
SPEECHES AND RAIN!
Adam’s speech was a genuine triumph. By his own admission, public speaking is not his natural habitat — but you’d never have guessed it on the day. He nailed it. Heartfelt, funny, and delivered with the kind of confidence that only comes from genuinely loving the person you’re speaking about.
With the speeches done and toasts raised, we were watching the weather closely for a break — because there was a bouquet toss to happen, and bouquet tosses are absolutely, non-negotiably worth waiting for. There is always a brilliant image in a bouquet toss. Always. When that break finally came, we were ready.
The guests at this wedding were incredible. A room full of people who were genuinely there for a brilliant day out, and it showed in everything — the laughter, the dancing, the way they threw themselves into every moment. As a photographer, that kind of energy is everything.

By the time the first dance kicks in, everyone has eaten, everyone has had a drink, and everyone has decided — consciously or not — that they are going to have the time of their lives. The dancing at Lucy and Adam’s wedding was exactly that. Full commitment. Brilliant energy. The kind of scenes that I’m running around trying to capture from every angle because I don’t want to miss a single one.
This is where documentary wedding photography really earns its keep. No posing, no direction — just real people having a genuinely wonderful time, and me doing my best to freeze it all.
