Great Yarmouth Town Hall - A Real Hidden Gem!
I never really knew what to expect from this venue. When I was booked, there was very little information available, and I was lucky enough to photograph one of their first weddings!
Selina and Paul first contacted me during Covid, and once we started chatting, I knew this was going to be a special day.
Morning Prep
I arrived bright and early at Selina’s house and got snapping! Most of the morning prep took place in their garden house, but occasionally it spilled into the main house.
Today, I also had a partner in crime—a fantastic videographer and all-around great guy, Peter from Dreamcapture Wedding Films (link below). We hit it off immediately and started bouncing ideas off each other.
The morning flew by, filled with laughter and high spirits—more than enough to keep me busy!
Down the pub for an early Pint!
With the morning prep done, Peter and I headed to the venue…only to discover Paul and his crew had hit the pub. And why not? It’s his wedding day!
When we found them, Paul was in full social mode—chatting, laughing, and knocking back a pint like a pro!
Eventually, we all made our way back to the Town Hall, where the guests were already gathering. Paul was once again surrounded, and he was absolutely loving it.
First Impressions of Great Yarmouth Town Hall
It’s hard to put into words just how surprising this venue is. Inside, it’s absolutely amazing! While it may not be a premium venue, you wouldn’t know that once you step through the doors. The main ceremony room boasts the grandeur of a high-end wedding venue at a fraction of the cost. Truly, a hidden gem in Norfolk.
As guests were being seated, the atmosphere was buzzing with excitement. Peter and I were capturing as much of it as we could.
Selina’s Grand Entrance
The big moment had arrived! Selina, accompanied by her dad, made their entrance. Paul looked genuinely stunned (in a good way), and Selina and her dad shared smiles and laughter—a super sweet moment!
The ceremony went off without a hitch. Vows were exchanged, loving glances were shared, and before we knew it, Selina and Paul were husband and wife!
A Toast with a Difference
In the main foyer of the Town Hall is a grand staircase. Not only is it perfect for wedding photos, but it also served as a beautiful spot for a toast!
With the toast complete, it was time for confetti. While the couple stayed inside, I gathered everyone outside and lined them up. When the Town Hall doors opened, the cheer was so loud that I wouldn’t be surprised if all of Great Yarmouth heard it!
After some socialising (and the appearance of Paul’s adorable boxer dog), we went back inside for group photos.
The Speeches
The speeches were unforgettable! From heartfelt messages from Paul’s two sons to a touching speech from his sister, and finally, the best man, who ramped things up to level 11—it was a rollercoaster of emotions and laughter!
But the real highlight was Selina’s daughter’s speech which was one of the sweetest moments Ild ever seen at a wedding. She nailed it
Into the Evening
Now, let’s talk about the evening. Selina and Paul brought in the big guns for the party—Paul Allen, one of Norfolk’s best DJs. Ive worked with Paul now a few times and he’s genuinely brilliant.
After a dreamy first dance (seriously, these two nailed it), the floor turned into a full-on rave. People were dancing like their lives depended on it, and the energy was electric.
Just when I thought the night couldn’t get better, we squeezed in a bouquet toss. Paul the DJ rallied all the ladies, and we had a blast capturing the chaos.
Wrapping Up
All in all, this day was pure magic. Selina and Paul were an absolute joy, the Town Hall was a knockout, and the vibes were immaculate from start to finish.
