Megan & Sam

A stunning wedding at Pentney Abbey!

Some venues are simply made for weddings, and Pentney Abbey is undoubtedly one of them! When a couple mentions they’ve chosen this venue you know you’re in for an amazing day!

The day kicked off like most wedding days—with me grabbing a quick McDonald’s breakfast (gotta fuel up!) and nervously eyeing the skies to check the weather. Thankfully, despite the mild temperature the sun was working overtime on the day.

When I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by Megan and her bridal squad, all in full wedding mode! And just when you thought things couldn’t get better Sam’s mum made me a cup of tea! what a star!

As morning prep moved one, I found the time to visit Sam and his groomsmen. After snapping a few shots of their dapper looks, it was time to head to the ceremony room to capture some pre-ceremony snots.

It was here I bumped into the amazing (and frighteningly talented)  Owen Mathers. Sam and Megan had had the epic foresight to book Owen who is the most amazing wedding illustrator! And a super lovely chap who didn’t stop drawing and painting all day! Honestly, if you’re looking for a live painter/illustrator for your wedding day give Owen a call (link to his site below)

Wedding ceremonies at Pentney Abbey

The ceremony room at Pentney Abbey is stunning. Being an Abbey it has this barn/church vibe that’s pretty unique.
Sam stood up front with his best man, looking a mix of nervous and excited. But the moment Megan walked in, looking stunning, Sam’s emotions took over—I love wedding moments like this!

One standout guest? Goose, Megan and Sam’s adorable dog, who also happened to be their ring bearer! Photographing a black dog in a dimly lit venue? Not the easiest, but we got there. Goose was the star of the show (after Sam & Megan, of course!).

Confetti Time!

Pentnety Abbey has the perfect spot for confetti, and it works so well you’d be mad to mess with it.

With everyone lined up Megan and Sam hid behind the massive double doors at the front of the Abby, and with a wink and a thumbs up the doors opened to reveal the couple. Everyone loved it and it makes for a fantastic wedding photo!

With the confetti done it’s time for the usual group photos and candids before grabbing the couple (and Goose) and heading off around the grounds for some wedding portraits.

Speeches, Giggles, and Unicorn Headgear!

As the guests arrived for food and speeches everyone was loving the table plan the couple had put together. The coupe had gone o some amazing effort to find old photos of everyone Everyone thought this was a lovely touch, and made for some great photos as guests discovered that the couple had planned

With everyone, finally seated the couple made their entrance to cheers and shouts – and now it’s time for speeches!

It’s hard to know what speech was the best (they all hit the mark),  but from my perspective Megan wearing the unicorn head gear makes me smile every time I see it!

Did I mention Megan is also an amazing cake maker?

Cake cuts! usually a pretty standard photo from a photography perspective but this was a little different for two reasons.

First of all the cake was made by Megan who is a professional cake baker! and her cake for her wedding day looked OUTSTANDING!  The other highlight was the fact that Megan &Sam had upgraded their cake knife to a giant sword! no idea why, but I and everyone else loved it!

With Cake cut it was time for some dancing! Megan and Sam had again nailed it again by hiring an amazing band caleed Three Mile Hill – really lovely guys and super talented – Three Mile Hill got everyone the pulling some epic moves on the dancefloor!

Why I love Pentney Abbey

There is so much to love about this place. The venue is stunning with no end of photo opportunities. It has a beautiful rustic/boho vibe that I just love and is always a pleasure to photograph
